Emmanuel Castis, born and raised in Johannesburg, has been a professional actor for 14 years.
Emmanuel started out in musical theater (Rocky in The Rocky Horror Show, the Prince in Cinders and Her Fella). This was followed by a number of stage roles in plays (Macbeth etc). Musical shows over the years include Frankly Speaking, Bachelor Boy, Let the Good Times Roll, Doowah Boys1, and Grease2. In March 2008 he was voted winner of Strictly Come Dancing. Emmanuel’s television career has included the roles of Steve in the much-loved daily drama Isidingo, Brent in One Way, Uri in Snitch, Cole in Scandal and Chris in the very popular SABC 2 drama Erfsondes. Recent stage roles include the highly acclaimed Rivonia Trial and Jersey Boys which opened in April this year in Johannesburg to rave reviews.
Emmanuel released his first music album in 2008. The album entitled South of Nowhere is a compilation of originals written by South African song-writers. This was followed by his single Stop Running Away which is available digitally. He plays regularly at corporate events, fundraisers and music venues as part of a duo with Dalliance.
Emmanuel freelances as an MC. Clients include Rennies, Sun International, Emperor’s Casino, Nicholas Rey, Miss Helene, Winter Games for Paralympics, CHOC, Board of Healthcare Funders, South African Ad Awards, Twincare International, SAPS, Special Olympics, Avon/Justine, Taste Magazine and New Media Publishing among others.
